On Sony's claims, it's important to clarify that (in their typical product tier turf-guarding paranoia) the pattern is to handicap the new color science, preserving Sony's precious VENICE (that nobody's buying), by "enabling" the corrected/catching-up color science ONLY in the non-SLog picture profiles: this is what happened in the FS5 II, and Sony will probably sneak that same limitation upon their even less profitable -- but still overpriced -- a7S III.
