Just about every disaster film that flows from our melodramatic anti-intellectual Hollywood studio empires, loses integrity completely when just a handful of people in an inner circle -- who hold the fate of the whole world in their hands -- each pull that "I've got to put everything on hold while the clock runs down, and call my daughter to say I love her" or "...call my hubby" or "...caress a memento" or "...gaze tearfully at family photos."

That kind of "human behavior" isn't high Shakespearean drama. It's cheap unintelligent melodrama for people who sing pop ballads like they mean it, and couch superfans of football.
